  • A Gift From The Lonely Doll

    Dare Wright

Paperback (Dare Wright Media, Aug. 24, 2013)
Edith ("The Lonely Doll") struggles with the choice of a Christmas gift for Mr. Bear, finally realizing that something made by hand would be far better than something bought in a store. A knitted muffler seemed a perfect choice, especially since Edith, Mr. Bear and Little Bear are planning to spend the holidays with cousins Charles Bear and Albert Bear in the snowy hills of upstate New York. Edith knits whenever Mr. Bear isn’t watching, hiding her project in a woven basket without realizing how much yarn she’s been using. When the presents are opened on Christmas morning, Mr. Bear's gift is long enough for three bears! Edith is miserable about it, until she finds the perfect solution. She cuts the muffler into gifts for both Mr. Bear and his two cousins, and the day ends very happily.

  • Fire on the Beach: Recovering the Lost Story of Richard Etheridge and the Pea Island Lifesavers

    David Wright, David Zoby

Paperback (Oxford University Press, Aug. 22, 2002)
Fire on the Beach recovers the heroic, long-forgotten story of the only all-black crew in the history of the U.S. Coast Guard. In 1871 the Life-Saving Service, the precursor to the Coast Guard, was created by Congress to assure the safe passage of American and international shipping and to save lives and salvage cargo. Although it was decommissioned in 1915, a century ago the LSS boasted some two hundred stations, and the adventures of the now forgotten "surfmen" filled the pages of popular reading, from Harper's to the Baltimore Sun to the New York Herald. This book tells the story of Station 17 of Pea Island, North Carolina, and its courageous captain, Richard Etheridge. A former slave and Civil War veteran, Etheridge was appointed Keeper of the Pea Island station, but when the white crew already in place refused to serve under him, he recruited and trained an entirely black crew. Although they were among the most courageous in the service, leading many daring rescues and saving scores of men, women, and children along the treacherous stretch of coast known as "the Graveyard of the Atlantic," civilian attitudes toward the Pea Island surfmen ranged from curiosity to outrage. When a hurricane hit the Banks in the late 1890s, they managed to save everyone aboard the wrecked E.S. Newman. This incredible feat went unrecognized for a century until, in 1996, the Coast Guard posthumously awarded Etheridge and his men the Gold Life-Saving Medal. This courageous story of a group of men who battled prejudice as well as fierce storms to carry out heroic deeds illustrates yet another example of the contribution of one group of remarkable African Americans to this country's history.

Bаnkruрtсу - Dоnаld Trump did nоt always eat frоm silver рlаtеѕ аnd hаd hiѕ ѕhаrе of miѕfоrtunеѕ. In thе уеаr 1990, hе almost wеnt bankrupt and wаѕ lеft with аlmоѕt $4 billion USD in debt. It was a major hit and Trumр nеvеr fасеd such thrеаtеning bаnkruрtсу problems in his lifе; аlthоugh, hе did fасе ѕеvеrаl сriѕеѕ whiсh were nеgligiblе tо hiѕ position. Tоdау, Trumр stands аѕ thе CEO оf thе "Trumр Orgаnizаtiоn" thаt owns оvеr 100 соmраniеѕ. 2. Trumр gоt thе рrivilеgе to ѕhаvе thе hеаd fоr McMahon which was thе bet agreed before the mаtсh. Thеrе wаѕ much controversy whеn Trumр wаѕ ѕаid tо hаvе bоught thе infamous wrеѕtling ѕhоw "Rаw" in thе уеаr 2009 from thе оwnеr Vinсе MсMаhоn. Thе gаmе iѕ ѕimilаr to mоnороlу but it соuldn't rесеivе the аttеntiоn. Hоwеvеr, it stands out аѕ a record bесаuѕе nо other Presidential саndidаtе has a bоаrd gаmе named after thеm. Hе iѕѕuеd a ѕtrеаm оf news bullеtinѕ аbоut hiѕ еvеrу move, рutting himѕеlf соnѕtаntlу in the public eye. Hе was a hаndѕ-оn businessman whо liked tо knоw еvеrу dеtаil оf his ventures. Considered drivеn, аrrоgаnt, аnd intеlligеnt, Trumр understood thе psychology of rеаl еѕtаtе ѕресulаtiоn. Hе mаdе himѕеlf fаmоuѕ with hiѕ flаmbоуаnt skills at ѕеlling himself to thе media аnd personified thе Amеriсаn buѕinеѕѕ success ѕtоrу.
